Thanks to Personal Friend for contacting us and sharing his memories of Michael and
letting us know he's been in contact with Michael in the last year or so. :)
Here's a copy of his email and what he wrote:
I met Michael Wixted back in 1970 at a private school I attended in Los Angeles, California. We became very good friends; sharing the same interests collecting comic books,
Hot Wheels cars, and riding Stingray bikes around the San Fernando Valley. Our families got pretty tight even, and from 4-6th grade got to know the Wixteds very well.
He and I even developed a comic strip and character that his father went as far as having us copyright, pushing us to take it 'seriously'.
Michael was extremely busy with the whole 'child star' gig and apparently was in very high demand for commercials, TV and film during this time.
The best recollections were the times where I was able to hang out at CBS Studios during filming of the The Smith Family (1971-1972) television series and having free reign
of the backlot and various sound stages. Unreal playground for kids and I remember catching tadpoles in Gilligan's "Lagoon" (more like tepid swamp).
At the end of 6th grade, my mother passed away and my father pulled up stakes and we moved to the beach. Totally lost track of Michael and all the
cool friends I had at the Private School on the hill. No idea what he's up to these days, although I was able to locate him a year or so back, as
I uncovered some of the old comics we had drawn as kids, and mailed them off to him. I guess he runs a business that is as opposite of the entertainment industry
as you could get, has settled down and has a family, etc.
No 'child star' debacle of drugs or of 'riches to rags' that so many kids in the industry have suffered.
So, yeah, I would say a success story for Michael-James Wixted!

Thanks to Wayne G. for contacting us and sharing his memories of Michael.
Here's a copy of his email and what he wrote:
I hung out with Michael when I was a kid in the San Fernando Valley, 1969-1971. I was 6 to 7 years old when this all went down.
He lived on Colbath Ave in Sherman Oaks, CA in a nice house with his mom. I'm not sure I ever saw his dad. I could be wrong about that.
He was one of a couple neighborhood kids I always played with. He may have been a year or two older than me.
I was born in '63. Not sure of his birth year. I do recall him having a lot of Nasa/Space stuff.
This was during the 1st moon landing era.
I only knew him as Michael, maybe just Mike. I don't recall. I'm pretty sure the first time I knew he
was an actor, was after I left L.A. in June '71. I definitely did not know he was an actor when I was
playing with him.
I do know he had some sort of British accent, which, of course, I did not know was British at the time.
He had no siblings that I was aware of.
He was very nice, we had fun, and that was it. I totally remember him, from our 69-71 play years.
When I left L.A. in June 1971, I never saw or heard from him again. I wish I had more, but that's it.
